Recasting The Justice League with Looney Toons

Inspired by the discovery that a comic exists telling the story of the meeting between the Justice League and the Looney Tunes, I have decided to figure out, if the Toons were to take on the powers of the superheroes, who would suit which best.

A pointless exercise, with no rewards, but someone has to do it. Enjoy.

Superman

Superman is the poster boy for the Justice League, so the Toon who plays him simply has to hold the same standing. This pretty much whittles it down to a choice between Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck or Porky Pig.
Of the three, the one with the best leadership skills would likely be Bugs. Porky could also be a good choice, being able to play the goofy Clark Kent and really show a transformation when becoming a hero. Daffy doesn’t really get a look in here – not after Stupor Duck.

CAST: Porky Pig

Wonder Woman

Jessica Rabbit as Wonder Woman
Again, Wonder Woman is one of the iconic characters of the League, so her counterpart would need to do her justice.
Lola Bunny would be a great choice based on her performance in ‘Space Jam’, but her more recent re-imagining in The Looney Tunes Show has ruined her.
There are a few longer running female characters, though few share the limelight in the same way that Bugs and Daffy do. Petunia Pig, Porky’s girlfriend, could be a good choice, though little known. More recognisable would be Penelope Pussycat, the girl ever chased by Pepé Le Pew. However, she probably isn’t a character that would fit with the super powers of an amazon goddess.
Jessica Rabbit would be ideal. Unfortunately she’s not really one of the Toons.

CAST: Petunia Pig

Green Lantern

Bugs Bunny missed out on the Superman title spot because he was too cool and funny to also be Clark Kent. Bugs however could be another of the more powerful players. Green Lantern relies on imagination to fuel his power. The number of schemes and plans Bugs has concocted over the years to outwit predators and hunters more than qualifies him.
Foghorn Leghorn too could be a good fit, having to overcome Barnyard Dawg’s and Henery Hawk among others.

CAST: Bugs Bunny

The Flash

The Flash is all about speed. Two characters can fill his boots nicely. Roadrunner and Speedy Gonzales.
Flash is also a fan of food and women. One of the two options stands out a little better, although, there have been multiple men who have taken the mantle.

CAST: Speedy Gonzales

Martian Manhunter

There really is only one choice for this hero.

CAST: Marvin the Martian

Aquaman

Aquaman, as his name suggests, is a water based hero. So it seems right that the Toon who portrays him should also be water based. Michigan J. Frog does little else but dance. Cecil Turtle might be a suitable choice. However, for comic effect, Daffy Duck may be ideal. Aquaman is regularly seen by fans as the disliked outcast. Daffy lives to fill that role.

CAST: Daffy Duck

Green Arrow

Daffy Duck’s turn as Robin Hood may make him a shoe in for this hero, but seeing as he has already filled a role, someone else better take it. Wile E. Coyote has some experience with the weapon, but he was not particularly successful. Elmer Fudd is a rifleman and hunter and also had a stint as a cupid, which might make him fit the bill best.

CAST: Elmer Fudd

Black Canary

A canary based hero? There can only be one choice… (despite being male)…

CAST: Tweety Pie

Hawkman

There’s any number of birds who could become the Hawkman, but after Tweety, Daffy, Foghorn Leghorn, Beaky Buzzard the only choice that really stands out is Henery Hawk.

CAST: Henery Hawk

Cyborg

There aren’t any half robotic Looney Toons, but there are a number of strong guys who could wear powerful implants. Crusher, Hugo, Gossamer and the like are big guys who could easily take the weight. On the other hand someone like Yosemite Sam would enjoy the lazers and gadgets. But for an all round dangerous killing machine, one character stands ahead of the rest.

CAST: Taz

The Atom

The Atom is a hard-working and driven individual, almost to the point of obsession when wanting to achieve goals. One Toon embodies obsession extremely well.

CAST: Sylvester

Batman

Batman has no powers, but he is a genius and regularly uses gadgets. One Looney Toon above all others can claim these traits.

CAST: Wile E. Coyote

Cracking Ace Cast

In case you disagree with my choices, Tiny Toons gave their interpretation some years back. The Tiny Toons are basically younger incarnations of the famous Looney Toons.
